I was not too far off from this parenting style to begin with, but it's a good reminder that when I'm having an emotional response to poor behavior, I'm just letting the kids push my buttons rather than learn from their mistakes.Donnahttp://www.growinggreatkids.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3891973909259809002.post-61453660989912423982010-11-19T14:30:11.289-05:002010-11-19T14:30:11.289-05:00That is the book that they use as a "guide&qu...That is the book that they use as a "guide" at Hillcrest. They have to ask when they want to paint, use glitter, confetti, feathers, and small beads. I really just wanted this to be a writing table, but E. isn't ready for pencil & paper writing. Crayons and scissors are good pre-writing tools for her.Donnahttp://www.growinggreatkids.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3891973909259809002.post-14721366594136840042010-03-03T20:58:57.361-05:002010-03-03T20:58:57.361-05:00That looks great! And now that Capri is 2 a lot of things (like all writing utensils...crayons, markers, paint) were removed and put on high shelves until in use. The older two love to do art, and she likes to do it with them, but it usually ends up on the walls, table, and floor. :( I don't know what I'm going to do in the new house.Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03200720166892342059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3891973909259809002.post-62037735441929058752010-03-02T11:10:56.549-05:002010-03-02T11:10:56.549-05:00Boy, that sounds really familiar! If it gets messy, they won't be able to use it so easily. Having it in the dining room (Grand Central Station in our house) makes it harder to ignore if it gets messy. So far, they're doing a great job of putting things back where they belong and picking up the remnants of their projects. It's the first place our son heads when he wakes up every morning, so I'm very pleased with it so far!Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15476636154469326229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3891973909259809002.post-90086586228939251762010-03-01T19:03:29.034-05:002010-03-01T19:03:29.034-05:00I absolutely love. That means many of the pieces are pretty large. I bought the felt rectangles at a local craft store (couldn't find it by the yard), and many of the Brown Bear pieces took almost a whole sheet of felt. But I like them oversized. They would work well in a classroom setting!

I did use some flannel within some of the pieces, but it doesn't stick as well as the felt. The flesh-colored fabric on the peddler is flannel.

I might go back and add a bit of velcro to the back of each piece, for extra stickage.Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15476636154469326229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3891973909259809002.post-88837682879805884932010-01-17T15:03:05.681-05:002010-01-17T15:03:05.681-05:00You ...you monkeys, you give me back my cats!!!
